Q: Why should I use a Senior Care Pharmacist? Can't I just go to my local pharmacist? A: The hard facts of today's commerce indicate that most pharmacists don't have the time for in-depth individual consultation. A trained Senior Care Pharmacist will carefully study your medications and your medical records in order to make assessments and recommendations that can help you or a loved one live a longer, better-quality life with prolonged independence.
Q: Why can't I just go to my doctor?
A: Medical doctors are some of the most overworked people on our planet. Doctors depend on their nurses, a patient's family, and pharmacists to assist them in taking care of their patients. It is the pharmacist's job to keep updated on new medicines and various interactions and side effects.
Q: I don't want my doctor thinking I don't trust him. Will he need to know if I use your services?
A: Most physicians today have worked with clinical pharmacists. Since Medisort Medication Consultants' goal is to assist Seniors in the proper use of medications and to improve the quality of their lives, most doctors welcome information that can improve the health care of their patients.
Q: Will my physician pay attention to what you recommend?
A: Physicians are entirely free to request or decline receipt of the Medication Therapy Management reports.
Q: Why do reviews take so long? Just looking over the medicines I take shouldn't take long.
A: Medisort Medication Consultants does more than just “look over” the medicines a person takes. Seniors have unique needs. We interview the patient, take into consideration how they feel, evaluate possible side effects which may be affecting the patient. We also review their general health and the conditions for which they are being treated. All of these are reviewed to determine if their medications may be causing, aggravating, or preventing resolution of their individual health problems. The review is shared with the patient, their caregiver, and their physician(s).
Q: Just exactly what is Medication Therapy Management?
A: Simply put, Medication Therapy Management combines all the services we provide. Ultimately it is helping patients understand their medications and monitoring and evaluating the patient's response to medications.
Q: How do I or my caregiver know if I need your services?
A: Do you remember the questions on the Home page regarding whether or not you were at risk for medication errors? If you answered “Yes” to three of those questions and/or are taking any of the medications mentioned in the paragraph below those questions, you would probably benefit greatly from Medisort Medication Consultants' services.
